Total Defense Against Drones

The Threat We're Facing

When our UAO team returned from the frontlines after the last delivery trip, the situation hit us hard. The greatest threat facing all units right now: Russian fiber-optic drones. Unlike conventional FPV drones, these are controlled via a thin fibre-optic thread instead of a radio signal — meaning they can fly further and cannot be stopped by a jammer.

With a range of over 30–40 km and what seems like an endless supply, these drones make it increasingly difficult to hold positions and keep soldiers safe. That's why we're dedicating this large-scale fundraiser to countering the fiber-optic drone threat through a structured 3-step action plan.

Our 3-Step Action Plan

1
Detect & Defend
Prevent launches. Take down what gets through.

The best defense is preventing drone launches altogether — identifying Russian launch sites and eliminating equipment before drones are airborne. For this, Ukraine needs its own fiber-optic drones with 30+ km range.

At the last line of defence, shotguns with collimators (red-dot sights) allow soldiers to target and shoot down incoming FPV drones far more accurately. This combination has already proven effective on the frontline.

2
Move
Minimise exposure. Stay fast, stay alive.

Minimising exposure to enemy drones is critical. In wooded terrain, quadbikes can transport fighters to positions far more quickly — replacing current 10+ km walks on foot — while also taking advantage of natural cover from tree canopy.

While not immune to FPV drones, fast quadbikes dramatically reduce the window of exposure near the frontline.

3
Cover
Shield positions, trenches and vehicles.

Deploying camouflage nets — on roads, in tree lines, above trenches — reduces unprotected exposure to aerial observation. On pickup trucks, shrapnel-resistant kevlar spray, possibly combined with "cope cages", offers meaningful protection while maintaining greater mobility than full steel armour allows.
